The Hawthorn Tree

Hawthorne wood is fine grained and works well for delicate carvings. The root wood is finer still and suitable for making turned bowls.

Hawthorne wood is more prized than oak wood for wood fires, as it burns very hot. A hawthorne wood fire can produce fire that can melt pig iron.

Bread and Cheese Tree - Chew the young leaves for nourishment and a feeling of well being.  The berries and flowers can also be eaten.  Hawthorn has many medicinal uses.
